Short Take: HP cuts prices on networking switches, hubs

Hewlett-Packard has reduced prices on several of its ProCurve 10/100 switches and hubs. The price for the 8000M switch dropped by half, from $3,999 to $1,999, while the 1600M switch price fell $800 to $1,599. HP slashed the price of the ProCurve 10/100 Hub 24 by about 19 percent, from $799 to $649. HP also announced it had added quality of service features to its Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, which include the 8000M and 1600M models. Users of the switches can now set which applications get more priority for bandwidth.
