Short Take: Globalstar launches phone service trials

Globalstar, a satellite phone service provider, has launched its phone service with trials in selected regions around the world. The trials are intended to test distribution, marketing, and customer service. Globalstar's competitor Iridium, which has since filed for bankruptcy, had distribution and marketing problems, according to analysts. Globalstar said the complete commercial service will be deployed over the next few months.
