Short Take: California teachers required to be computer-literate

California's Gov. Pete Wilson signed into law a bill that requires prospective teachers to demonstrate basic computer competency. AB 1023 adds computer literacy to the minimum requirements for the California teaching credential and will go into effect January 1, 2000. The governor also unveiled the Digital High School home page. Digital High School is Wilson's program to link California high schools to the Internet and expand their educational technology capabilities.
