Short Take: Appian gets $60 million in capital

Appian Communications, an optical-networking equipment company, has received $60 million in third-round funding. Tudor Investment and Technology Venture Partners led the round of financing. Other new investors included Amerindo Investment Advisors, Anschutz Investment and Essex Investment Management. Appian, which develops packet-based switches for optical networks, has now raised more than $80 million since March 1999.
