About.com, whose Web site network features experts on topics from travel to health, plans to acquire closely held ExpertCentral.com for about $30.7 million in stock. ExpertCentral.com shareholders will receive about 500,000 unregistered shares of About.com common stock, and About.com will assume ExpertCentral.com's option plan. The purchase is valued at about $30.7 million, based on About.com's closing price today.
