Yahoo thinks entertainment with Launch buy

Yahoo's longtime deal-maker, Ellen Siminoff, plans to leave the company, sources told CNET News.com on Friday.

A Yahoo representative declined to comment, adding the company has not made any announcements about Siminoff, who was senior vice president of entertainment and small business. Sources close to Yahoo confirmed the departure plans.

A Yahoo employee since 1996, Siminoff spearheaded the Web portal's acquisition strategy during the Internet boom years.

During her tenure, Siminoff was instrumental in Yahoo's high-priced acquisitions of home page directory GeoCities, Web streaming media site Broadcast.com, e-mail list service eGroups, and more recently online music site Launch Media.
