Anyone who sells anything for profit owes income tax on it. But in practice, for auctions on eBay and other Web sites, the IRS is interested in enforcing the rules for high-volume sellers.

Meanwhile, the gov't continues to dole out multibillion dollar contracts to lobbyists and cronies. Face facts, the govt is the real terrorists against Americans.

I would also like to add.... haven't you already paid taxes on most of the product you are selling? Because you paid taxes on the money you made, to be able to buy the products you are selling, not to mention the sale tax, city tax, county tax and so on....... So this Government is going to charge us taxes again, again?<br /><br />This is truly becoming a communist county, only hold us hostage with our money......instead..

For most garage sales it's a near total loss.

I've put few things up on e-bay that ended up basically worthless as a seller. I'd rather give the goods to Goodwill or the Salvation Army than let some cheapskate looking for a fire sale to benefit.
