Bugs galore this week, including a security vulnerability in Apple Computer's Wi-Fi software that kicked off the "month of the kernel bugs." CNET News.com's Joris Evers and CNET.com's Robert Vamosi give their take in Security Bites (audio only this week).
Other vulnerabilities that could pose a risk to Internet users include bugs in Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7, two spiffy new browsers. Also, developers are being targeted in cyberattacks that exploit a flaw in the Visual Studio 2005 toolset.
Airport security also grabbed headlines this week. A Google intern posted a Web site that lets anyone with an Internet connection and a printer create fake boarding passes. The site was taken down quickly, apparently at the request of law enforcement, and the intern got a visit from the FBI.
Google is giving friendly bug hunters an ego boost. The search giant is crediting those who privately report security issues on a new Web page. This may appease researchers who might otherwise go public with their findings.
Finally, the FBI says is hot on the tail of crooks who deal in credit cards on the Internet. There have been several arrests in different places in Europe and the U.S.
