Linux messaging and calendaring software vendor Scalix made a preview version of Scalix 11 available for download on Monday. The commercial release of the upgrade is due in November of this year.

Scalix 11 adds Web services programming interfaces for its messaging and management services, which makes it easier for developers to integrate the product with other applications. In addition, Scalix introduced a mobile client that provides basic e-mail access for cell phones and PDAs. The company has also upgraded its Web client which improves performance and searching.
