Salesforce.com snags Siebel exec

Software start-up Salesforce.com has hired former Siebel Systems executive Steve Garnett to oversee sales and operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the San Francisco-based company said Tuesday. Garnett held a similar position at Siebel before becoming head of worldwide alliances there.

Salesforce and Siebel both compete in the market for business applications designed to streamline sales and marketing activities, also known as customer relationship management (CRM). Salesforce has taken aim at Siebel, the largest CRM software company. It said it has scooped up a number of former Siebel customers.
