Salesforce.com reports subscriber surge

Subscription software company Salesforce.com has added 85,000 individual subscribers to its online customer information system, an 85 percent surge in that figure compared with this time last year. The San Francisco company, which began selling its shares to the public in June, makes programs designed to help companies with their sales, marketing and customer service efforts. Salesforce also said that companies subscribing to its service now number 12,000, a 62 percent leap from last year.

Salesforce competes with Oracle, RightNow Technologies, Salesnet, Siebel Systems and others in the pay-by-the-month software market. The company licenses its software for $65 to $125 per user per month.
