SPI Dynamics tools aid security auditors

Web application security provider SPI Dynamics announced Monday the latest edition of its Web application assessment product, Web Inspect Enterprise Edition 4.0, which introduces features to help security auditors determine how well companies comply with recent regulations. New laws, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, require companies to keep a closer tab on customers and sensitive data.

Web Inspect Enterprise Edition 4.0 tests Internet-accessible applications for vulnerabilities that a would-be intruder could use to break through the digital security that surrounds corporate networks. New features allow the software to test for compliance with a business' internal security policy and with predefined templates that represent legal requirements.
