'Rings' video games in the offing

Unexplored locales of Middle-earth depicted in the epic fantasy novel "The Lord of the Rings" will be new playgrounds for gamers. Electronics Arts, based in Redwood City, Calif., said on Monday it had acquired the rights to develop two games based on J.R.R. Tolkien's celebrated fiction. "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II" and "The Lord of the Rings Tactics" will cover topics that are outside what has been included in the movie trilogy, the company said.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II" is a PC-based video game, while "The Lord of the Rings Tactics" is a PlayStation game. EA did not commit to a date for the release of the games.

Hope this time they get it right!

All of the lord of the rings games i've played so far haven't even come near the actual visual and entertainment factors of the movies. The playability is also nothing new. I hope they come up with some ingenious design for the next games in the series which can compete with the movie's. Wishing all the very best!
