Rhythms CEO steps down

The chief executive officer at Rhythms NetConnections, a wholesale provider of high-speed DSL (digital subscriber line) Internet connections, has resigned. Catherine Hapka's last day as director and CEO will be May 1. Steve Stringer, president and chief operating officer, will become the company's new CEO, in addition to his existing roles. Many of the DSL providers and broadband ISPs are in disarray, and Englewood, Colo.-based Rhythms has said this week it may seek a buyer for the company.
