Red Hat names international executive

Linux seller Red Hat has named Alex Pinchev as president of international operations, part of the company's effort to support global customers and take on competitors such as SuSE in Europe and Turbolinux in Japan. Previously, Pinchev was founder and chief executive of software company MainControl.

In an earlier interview, Szulik said the company is having an easier time recruiting top executives such as Pinchev than in the manic dot-com years, when Red Hat's stock was vastly higher, stock options were less alluring, and employees changed jobs more frequently. "When you look at Red Hat three years ago, we couldn't recruit anybody. The market was hot," Szulik said.
