Red Hat finalizes Netscape buy

Red Hat has completed its acquisition of the Netscape Communications server software from the America Online division of Time Warner.

As expected, the Linux seller paid $20.5 million and will pay an additional $2.5 million if it books at least $3 million in revenue through an existing contract with the Defense Department, according to a filing Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
