so will the intel reviews go "after testing we have thoroughly concluded that open source software is wholly inadequate compared to solutions from [our lords and masters] Microsoft".

if it works as intended it could be a great way to promote OSS software and help it spread into the workplace, nice one, :)

Organizations should explicitly evaluate *all* software.
That includes proprietary products as well as open source products.

Failure to perform at least a rudimentary validation for appropriateness, etc., is irresponsible in the extreme.

While a rating system sounds interesting and might be useful in some respects, it's hardly a replacement for firsthand experience. :-)
