Rambus opens design center in Bangalore

Chip designer Rambus on Thursday opened a design center in the Indian city of Bangalore. The new center, which expects to hire around 50 people by end of the year, will focus mainly on Rambus' emerging interface technologies such as repeatable cells and cores meant for multiple process technologies.

Rambus is the latest among several technology companies that have opened facilities in Bangalore. Earlier this year, Microsoft chose the city to set up a research facility that focuses on geographical information systems. The list also includes chipmakers Advanced Micro Devices and STMicroelectronics.
