"Edmondson originally said he had received a bachelor of science degree, but now says he believes--but cannot document--that he received a ThG diploma, awarded for completing a three-year degree in theology".
I used to manage a Radio Shack, way back in the late seventies, and since then I have often wondered how they were able to stay in business all these years. But I would hate to see them go away completely, as they are often the only place where you can find that odd part or connector, especially on a Sunday afternoon.
As sad as they have become, they're still the only choice for DIY and hobbists. I really wish they would get back to the business they began. Kits were a great way to learn about all sorts of things and these days, ICs mean they would be mostly snap together anyway. No one I know has figured out where Radio Shack thinks it's going but it would be fantastic if the company decided to ride out on the horse they rode in.
What's a ThG??? I've never heard of such a thing. I can understand a degree in Theology.
I've heard of a PhD which includes numerous fields.
This guy is unbelievable. I don't want to get in the "kick them when they're down" parade. But, he's just another one playing the "I'm so confused, I thought it meant such and such ..."
I don't buy it. I'm sure he knew all along that he was lying and milked it for all it was worth. Why didn't he try to correct it before. He could've gone to school and gotten the degree he never did in the first place. He only mentioned it once his cover was blown. Radio Shack, with attorneys at hand, should come after him.
I'm all for capitalism. Enough corporate corruption.
He has told various stories. At one point he was just a few credits shy of a degree. At another, he had TWO degrees. That was when he wasn't saying proof of his one degree was lost in a fire or something. According to the college, which is unaccredited but apparently keeps good records, Edmondson attended for only a couple semesters -- not enough time to get any kind of degree.
I think the Fort Worth newspaper did a good job investigating this man. Many a hometown paper is afraid to question the business community for fear of losing advertising. But, they smelled smoke and looked for fire.
As for the three known arrests for drunk driving. . . . Good riddance.
Web giant is spending $120 million to beef up its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters, according to filings with the city reviewed by the San Jose Mercury News.
The Samsung Galaxy mini 2 S6500 could make its debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, according to a leaked promotional image.
Tor's "obfsproxy" technology would make encrypted data look innocuous and let it dodge government censors. That could help citizens in Iran reach blocked sites as antigovernment protests reportedly loom.
MIT creates a simulation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Spacewar. A relic of the early days of minicomputers, it was one of the first computer video games and set the stage for many others, including Asteroids.
George Lucas has just released his version of "Star Wars" in 3D, but c'mon--the guy believes Greedo shot first. Why not make your own Star Wars world? In the first installment of a Crave series, a crack team of crafters fight the power and turn paper bags into the Rebel Alliance's Admiral Ackbar. It's a sack!
Now, that's Intelligent Design! :-)
