RIM gets colorful

Research In Motion is showing its true colors this week at the annual 3GSM World Congress cellular industry conference in Cannes, France. The Waterloo, Ontario-based company confirmed Friday it was demonstrating prototypes of new devices--one with a color case and one with a color screen. However, a company representative stated in an e-mail that it wasn't clear when or if the devices would come to market.

One of the devices fits the description of the BlackBerry 6200, which the company received FCC approval for earlier this month. The Blackberry 6200 could possibly range in price from $300 to $350. The representative said that while RIM's efforts remain primarily with business users, it was looking to expand its target audience to include the "prosumer," or high-end consumer, market.
