Quote of the day: 'Microsoft Office-centric'

In a story about standards body Ecma International's creation of a committee to standardize Microsoft Office document formats--considered a victory for the software giant as it struggles to maintain its stronghold over the productivity application market--an analyst notes that one would expect more openness.

"It's fairly obvious that the specification that they have is very Microsoft Office-centric, whereas you would expect that something that they're trying to make open would be more generic," Gartner's Michael Silver.
