Profits elude SeeBeyond

Software company SeeBeyond warned investors Wednesday that it expects to post a loss of 8 cents to 10 cents for the second quarter instead of the penny profit analysts had expected. SeeBeyond's second-quarter revenue also missed the mark. The company expects to book $32 million to $34 million in revenue versus the $38.1 million anticipated by analysts polled by research firm First Call.

SeeBeyond, which makes applications that help businesses integrate incompatible computing systems, joins a number of fellow software companies, including i2 Technologies, Kana Software and Epiphany, in issuing second-quarter earnings warnings this week. The warnings signal a repeat of the first quarter, which was marked by a string of disappointing financial results in the business software market as companies remained tight with their money.
