Problems plague eBay a third day

eBay had Web site problems for a third consecutive day Tuesday, with some members having difficulty logging in to their personalized "My eBay pages," the company confirmed.

The login problems affected some of the company's customers between 6:05 and 6:55 PDT Tuesday morning, the company said in a note on one of its announcement boards.

"The issue has been identified and all access restored," the company said in its note.

It was not known if the problems were related to other problems on Sunday and Monday. Further information was not available on the message boards, and eBay representatives did not return calls seeking comment.

On Sunday, customers were unable to view, bid or list items in eBay's clothing or jewelry areas for more than nine hours. On Monday, people reported that they couldn't access eBay's home page for more than an hour, and some sellers complained that their auctions had mysteriously disappeared from the Web site.

Last month, eBay suffered a 90-minute outage that affected customers' ability to reach its home page and some other pages. Later in the month, a site slowdown affected eBay users' ability to reach the site for nearly three hours.

In a note posted on its announcements board Monday, eBay acknowledged the ongoing problems and said it would send e-mail to those affected, detailing the problems and the steps it was taking to solve them. The company did not say what those problems or solutions were, saying only that they resulted in "specific issues" for different customers.

"We realize that this has been an inconvenience for our members, and we sincerely apologize," the company said in its note. "Please be patient with us as we send these emails, which we hope will answer your questions."

eBay has been continually upgrading its system since a round of multi-hour outages in 1999. The company first installed a backup system, then proceeded to move its database to a distributed architecture, with different portions of its site hosted on different servers instead of all on the same server. By distributing its systems, eBay has been able to limit the spread of problems from one area of its site to the entire site.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company is currently engaged in its "V3" upgrade, which will include real-time updates of its data and minute-by-minute updates for listings. Listings are now updated about once every hour. The company has said the upgrade was not responsible for last month's outage.

Constant issues, problems

I have a blank strike against me yet Ebay won't or can't fix it. I get this as my intro page basil191, you have received an Unpaid item strike

You were the winning buyer on eBay item (NO NUMBER). The seller,NO SELLER, has told us that they have not received payment, or that you were unable to resolve this issue. As a result, you have received an Unpaid Item strike.

Because of the repeated Unpaid Item strikes against your account, you have been automatically suspended from eBay.

You can appeal this strike if you believe it is not deserved. First, read the requirements for appealing the strike. If you meet them, you can submit your appeal on that page. If your appeal is successful the strike will be removed.

If you have recently paid for the item or have otherwise resolved this dispute, you can ask the seller to remove the Unpaid Item strike themselves.

Please note: There is no item or seller. Ebay has not fixed this and so I can't buy off of Ebay there were strikes but I had them removed, still
this shows me Ebay has a big problem. Also they have not been working on the endless scam e-mails
I get at least one aday.

Maybe this is for the good. Ebay sicks!!!

Ebay & The Constant Problems
by GotToAskWhy August 18, 2007 7:57 AM PDT
I have to say that I have been a ebay seller for a couple of years. What I have seen as "customer service" is next to none! They take 24-48 hrs to get back to you on any issue-and I DO mean any issue. There is no telephone number to contact anyone and if, by the grace of good luck, you just happen to get a telephone number and call-they automatically transfer you into a recorded message about online help. (which is EVER so no helpful!)
I had emailed them on a couple of issues that I saw when purchasing items and when they sent me responses they were general in nature-not addressing the issue at all. The two issues WERE and still are valid:
1) in bidding on a small item, I had the system automatically increase the dollar amounts by more than it should have (wasnt .50-it was 1.00)
2) I have had several sellers tell me they use these auction sniper systems-which outbid people on the last second of an auction. With all the security, etc. ebay is constantly nagging about, they allow these companies to exist in their system. They dont do anything about them. This causes an unfair trading for the average person who stays at their computer, watches, bids consistently and is playing by the ebay rules.
I just recently had issues with my account coming up with weird error messages. When I asked to have it fixed or looked into, I ended up being suspended. There was NO information on it for how to get it reinstated. I have sent numberous emails and got no response from them as well.
I see by the postings on here that there are probably a huge amount of people out there having issues with ebay that are more than frustrated like me and I wish there were a way to make that company "customer service" friendly but there isnt. I think with the millions of dollars they make off of the average person, they really dont care about the 1 here and 1 there that they lose and lose respect for. I also wish someone would come up with an online auction site to give them competition-maybe they would start being more customer service oriented. If YOU have had problems with ebay, please post-share with the others so we know we are not alone!

eBay fraud

eBay is experiencing problems, but they have not told you about the fraud going on with hackers using legitimate ID's to buy merchandise and then posting advertising feedback on the sellers account.
They are not answering their emails nor the supposed live chat. They are overwhelmed and understaffed.

Problem on eBay
by Bohunks December 5, 2007 1:19 PM PST
For the last two weeks I have attempted to sell a item and both times eBay pulled the item do to someone using someone elses eBay account. They make you start from scatch and take there sweet time refunding the fees. And of course you have to sit and chat with someone that is chatting with god knows how many people and it takes for ever for them to tell you anything that might make you feel that you might get the item sold or get a refund within 15 days. Sure be nice if you could talk to someone on the phone. Sure be nice if they told you haw this keeps happening. Its time for another eBay to get developed by Google I hope.
