Quote.com pares down, CEO out

A stock ticker recently reappeared on the front door of Playboy's Web site, along with links to Playboy magazine, the Playboy store, and "Cyberclub," the company's subscription-based online service. It is another example of the widespread move to give more prominence to stock tickers on Web sites, a trend that extends beyond search engines and Net directories. As personalization becomes more common, the stock ticker features become a key element.
Playboy Online editor Rodger Brown said the stock ticker feature is not new; it has been a part of the Web site for several years, but was not always on the front door. It has appeared and reappeared as a "planet" on the site.
Many Netizens also are investors, and like getting updates on their holdings throughout the day. Not all the results are in real-time, however.
Playboy's site features stock quotes from Quote.com. It lists stock quotes from Playboy and provides a search function where users can type in any stock.
