Pioneer to license TiVo technology

Pioneer Electronics' USA division announced Thursday that it will license TiVo's digital video recorder service and that it is working with TiVo to develop products that will be available later this year. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The Long Beach, Calif.-based Pioneer division is the latest major consumer electronics maker to license TiVo's service; others include Sony and Toshiba. San Jose, Calif.-based TiVo's service enables consumers to pause live programming and to program their recorders to store future shows on a hard drive.
