Why is it so important for us to fly off into space to take pictures of other planets, when there is so much we don't know about Earth itself?

Because there is much to learn about Earth on other planets
Exploration of space augments and in no way precludes investigation of the Earth's deep mysteries.

If we don't...
If we don't find a way to get off of this planet, we as a species will eventually die on this planet. My god, your post is so shortsighted. People like you shouldn't be allowed to vote!
