"The Cult of Mac," recently released by No Starch Press, illustrates a culture of Apple Computer devotees still very alive. How so-called Macheads reveal their allegiance is a matter of artistic expression.
I made the switch about 2 months ago - selling my bleeding edge, home-built PC for a new 1.8Ghz iMac G5. Am I happy with my choice? I sure am but my public visual advertising only goes as far as putting one of those white Apple logo decals on my car's rear window : )
an over 1.5 year old anemic video card? What did you have in your 'bleeding edge' computer? A Geforce 2? And you moved to a processor that gets thumped by current day Celerons? Wow.
FRANK, dude, what are you smokin man? 1. Intel's watered down Pentium (Celeron) is frankly impossible to beat a 64 BIT PowerPC G5 chip that comes with the latest G5 iMac. 2. G5 iMac comes with the LATEST video graphics card for an AIO desktop (GeForce FX 5200) www.apple.com/imac 3. *** are you scanning the Cult Of Mac Book photos if you are a POC peecee user who hates Macs? (Bi-Platform Curious?) 4. PC Magazine gave the G5 iMac the EDITOR"S CHOICE AWARD 2004 for EXCELLANCE www.pcmag.com/article2/ 0,1759,1648796,00.asp 5. <a class="jive-link-external" href="http://www.apple.com/imac/reaction/" target="_newWindow">http://www.apple.com/imac/reaction/</a> 6. 1. Intel's watered down Pentium (Celeron) is frankly impossible to beat a 64 BIT PowerPC G5 chip that comes with the latest G5 iMac.
-->This is somewhat true, but it really depends on what application you are running and benchmarking. Your statement is more opinion that fact.
2. G5 iMac comes with the LATEST video graphics card for an AIO desktop (GeForce FX 5200) www.apple.com/imac
--> the Geforce FX 5200 is very old. The card is about 8 generations old in fact. AGP is also now old.
3. *** are you scanning the Cult Of Mac Book photos if you are a POC peecee user who hates Macs? (Bi-Platform Curious?)
--> I don't think he said anything about hating macs. I also don't think anyone really wants to hear your babble comments like peecee and bi-curious remarks. Grow up.
4. PC Magazine gave the G5 iMac the EDITOR"S CHOICE AWARD 2004 for EXCELLANCE www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1648796,00.asp
--> PC Magazine "IMO" blows chunks. The same people make the MacWorld magazine. The G5 imac is a good system. Very limited, but good for the money. Apple may actually make some money with this one. "IMO" they just need to make it look better.
--> Why are you putting this link in this list? Are you trying to say all these "advertisers" that place apple ads for money are being 100% objective? Probably not.
6. Get the Facts Franko before you show your ignorance about a product that you've never used.
--> Just about everything you've listed is opinion. Why don't you list the facts for him?
-Eyes wide open in Seattle- --> Is this some kind of derogatory comment? Who's in Seattle? Microsoft? Maybe try saying Redmond, that's more accurate since we're being so fact oriented here.
Unix/Mac/Win-PC User --> Is this supposed to make all your comments seems more acceptable? I have an idea. Why don't you go see your doctor about this obvious issue you have with people.
Final notes: --> Why are you all such crazy geeks? Why don't you spend more time using your OS of choice for something a bit more productive? While I do prefer XPSP2 over any other OS I do use OS10 (panther) for some stuff at work. I haven't found any use for Linux yet but who knows. Keep and open mind and your opinion and facts stated as such. It might help people like this poor guy.
...illustrates a culture of Apple Computer devotees still very alive. How so-called Macheads reveal their allegiance is a matter of artistic expression.
Typical cnet pro-mac article. Do you think any other OS/Hardware geeks express such devotion? I think so. I see hundreds of sites like these: Windows Cult Modders showing off "artistic expression".
You will never see cnet do a story for pro-windows users. I wonder why? You'd think they would since there is so much more content and interest for the story. Typcial.
PC users don't get it. However everytime they have to work with a Mac they always end up buying one. Hey, anyone can correct a mistake.
A Mac is not another appliance like a PC, it becomes a statement about you and if you ask me it forms a symbiotic relationship becoming a part of you. Mine gets sick when I am sick and performs beyond duty just when I need it.

PC's to get them to be something they would "advertise".
Mac users advertise their stock systems,... no embellishment is
needed,... :D
P.S.
I thought the "Bi-Platform, Curious"? comment was absolutely
histerical,...
For a PowerBook~~
