Nintendo talking 'bout a Revolution

Nintendo's Revolution will be significantly smaller than its rivals', about the size of several stacked DVD cases, and will come in several as-yet-undetermined colors.

Now that
is very sleek and small to conseal, if you had to hide a console from your wife I'm sure one could figure something out. Doesn't really fit the bigger is better American mantra though so in my personal opinion may not fare as well. Though for the casual gamer or gamer sophiticate it may do well at something to hide int he background. We are reaching a point in video game history where much of the gaphics will all looks the same and only see minor differences in texture and lighting capability. Now it can be about the games, the popularity gained by having a certain console, and what one wants in their gaming machine.

Nintendo Power.
Nintendo is a great system. Obviously, its level of competitiveness is not on par with Sony and MS. Most likely I'll get this system first over the Xbox. Xbox really isnt that great of a system. All it has is Halo and to be honest, my patience with Halo is thinning.

Bravo
The next generation is really shaping up to be amazing. I can't wait to hear some concrete specs and pricing to really lay out the analysis.

Yes Indeed
Nintendo has created a sharp piece of machinery. Microsoft has possibly the least impressive looking console out of the 3. :-(

how in the hell is a remake of the gameboy a revolution? it is the same thing that has been availible long time ago. even the gameboy advance sp is better.

i hope it blows up in nintendos face.

what a pity...
So sad to see someone make bonehead comments without actually READING the writeup first. The Revolution is NOT the Gameboy rehash but the Gamecube console follow-up offering. Please be more responsible next time.

did you read....
past the first three paragraphs? they started by opening about the Game Boy Micro. The new console (4th paragraph) is the Nintendo Revolution, the amazing little black box.. I think it's slick looking... with the tilt back little stand. I wonder what colors it may come in.

Very sexy indeed
Absolutely tiny and a huge step away from the Cube. Though I am an Xbox fan myself, the Revolution looks likely to be a promising machine. Especially if you can download all the old games like the original Mario Brothers, Kid Icarus or Ice Climber. To have a library of great classic retro games is a surefire way of attracting us Old School gamers.

problems with xbox
Xbox has loads more power than ps2 or gamecube, microsoft just dont use it all, also the games for xbox are not very appealing to gamers

Nice design, pity about the rest of it...
Excellent design by Nintendo... at least Apple isn't the only one leading a Revolution.

However, the rest of it worries me. Yes, it is trying to be just 'about the games', but without the raw power to make those games truly realistic and eye catching.

The other oddity: a downloadable back catalog of games. Excellent idea.... wheres the hard drive to store them on? Sure there's 512MB flash storage... but that won't hold a GameCube game. Anyone else wonder about this?

Not worried about memory or power
You don't download GameCube games, you play the discs directly, you only download games from Nintendo's cartridge systems: NES, SNES and N64.

As for raw power, much of what we hear--especially from Sony & Microsoft--is hype, we'll have to wait until the systems and games actually launch to see how powerful they are; but my guess is that all three will be pretty close, and they'll be so powerful that we can't tell the difference between them.

not game cube
the revolution will allow you to download and play all games up to nintendo 64.

Backwards compatibily rocks... big time.
I'm thinking more like SMB, Lufia II, StarFox 64, F-Zero X... It'll be the first system (for Nintendo at least) that can play any game from any Nintendo console... now THAT's going back.

And they'll probably make quite a bit of money doing it. (Unless they decide to keep it free, which I don't think Nintendo would do.)

Yep... Nintendo's been hit hard over these last few years, but it's comeback time.

I pay for nostalgia
I gladly do. I'd pay a reasonable price per game to have my old console games playable on Revolution.

Just think: no more having to blow in Double Dragon, Super Metroid, or Final Fantasy III to make it work!

What console do you play when you have party?
For all the parties I went to, Nintendo was the most played console. I can see everyone taking turn playing Mario Karts and all that Mario games series. With all consoles and PCs games availiable to play, we still pick Nintendo at the party (we acutally bring Nintendo gameCube to a party because it will be play). With up to 4 people and not much of a gaming skill needed to play. Everyone can actually enjoy plying it.
Nintendo need a new marketing plan, do not try to complete with super long super cool graphics games or MMOPGs. People just want to have fun and that is all matter.

Thats the truth
GameCube is the perfect party system for gamers, young and old. Easy to pick up and play, no matter your skill level. Only if the controllers were wireless controllers.
