New cameras do double duty

The $499 Casio Exilim Pro EX-P505 is a 5-megapixel digital still camera that can also take 640-pixel by 480-pixel, or TV-quality, video. Coming later this month, it also contains a function that lets high-resolution still pictures be extracted from video for printing.

MPEG4, not MPEG2 peeps...
oops, forgot to mention, it's MPEG4, not MPEG2. Oh what's that mean? Well, the quality ain't as good and you'll have to use software to get it on a playable DVD.

But convergence is inevitable and Sony just HATES it. Their Camcorder biz ($$$$) is going to transmogrify (word o' the day) into something less profitable.

Whacha mean?
My Sony Cybershot has been doing that for a long time.... the memory don't hold much quality "footage" but I dial down the pixels and us the movie as a voice recorder. excellent sound for a built-in condencer mike.

The questions for these machines are how much memory does it hold? and how easy is it to transfer data?
