Millipede packs a punch
The Millipede prototype uses a two-dimensional array of silicon probes, or cantilevers, and a micro-mechanical scanner, which moves the storage medium relative to the array. For reading, writing and erasing of data, the cantilever tips are brought into contact with the storage medium.
