Can Samsung's phone cut Motorola's Razr?

Samsung's MM-A800 for Sprint can play TV shows and 90-minute videos, take dictation, and scan business cards. It also contains a 2-megapixel camera. Priced at $350 after a rebate, it's seen as a challenger to Motorola's Razr (next page).

Nice, no doubt...

But the RAZR is nicer still. The business card scanner is nice, too, but I don't see this thing doing much in the market.

SAMSUNG MM-A800 VS. RAZR V3

If the prices were the same, I'd go for SAMSUNG MM-A800. I'd been a Cingular subscriber for over 5 years, and been getting Verizon service for over 4 years. My personal pledge : Never go back to Cingular! I've never tried Sprint so far.
Maybe it is about time.

Uhhh, this is not even close to the "kitchen sink" phone

This is shotty research. Comparing this fat phone with the RAZR is just faulty. And, on top of that, the features in this Samsung are not even close to being innovative, and is certainly no "everything but the kitchen sink" phone.

The Nokia 6230 (also Cingular) is the real kitchen sink phone:

- 4 minute videos (vs. Samsung measley 30 secs)
- bluetooth
- up to 2GB of MP3s (vs. measley 15 songs on Samsung) via MMC card
- FM radio
- PIM functionality
- hi-speed GRPS/EDGE network
- speakerphone (for calls and MP3s and FM radio!)

and much, much more....

So, I don't know how C|Net can say this is a kitchen sink phone, and compare it to the RAZR when it's not even the same form factor as the RAZR (ie., .5" thick).

Cheap Immatations
by masa928 May 14, 2005 7:54 AM PDT
Why are Korean Phones always copying Japanese phone and saying the invented it? My godd!!!!!!!!!! The slide model with video conferanceing model is out already in Japan well over one year ago... Japan has so much better phone that never sees the shore of the US...

Trust me... Much better than that cheap immatations from Korea... Also the sad fact is that the same games for the Gameboy DS can be done with the NTT Docomo FOMA 901 models... C-net and NY times should do some more homework....

Here is the new Sony Walkman model for KDDI AU also out in Japan... Also the screens on the Sony cell phones in Japan looks as good as the "PSP " screen..

Some NTT Docomo models that can do 3D games (Good as Game Boy DS) and also LIVE video conferencing that is already outdated in Japan:
