. . . to tank big time. Why didn't he wait until he had a shipping product. It would have been nice if he offered a retail box of Tiger for the Intel PC. Now PowerPC hardware will be dead-end and no- one is going to buy Power Macs until they start shipping Intel based ones.

So the graph in the photo shows Apple growth exceeding PC growth. Lets see - if you sell 2 computers this year and then plan to sell 4 next year 100% growth WOW?? BFD!! If you took the entire Mac sales and added it to PC sales line you would not even see the blip. BS is what it is.

Well, I have always believed that the problems that Windows users have had, were attributed to the Windows XP OpSys. Mr. Steve Jobs has now confirmed Apple's move to Intel processors. I think that it's a great move if... Here's the rub: When Apple releases its Mac line with 64 bit Intels, then it will have to make sure that their OS X Tiger can run on ANY Pentium 4, 32 bit, or higher Intel box. If they do not, you will have every hacker & cracker making a translator or emulator for it to run, & risk alienating EVERYONE! OS X on all P4=< machines? Sounds like a great idea! - I hope that this is Mr. Jobs' master plan!

What is important is the software. Apple (NeXT) had the technology to run its OS and software on multiple platforms since NeXTStep (remember Fat Binaries?).
Now that Apple is leveling the "hardware plane", they will be able to compete better on the software plane, and grab some more of that Windows market. Apple will be sure that they will have a good healthy supply of processors.
And to those that criticize Apple's market share, Apple already sells more Personal Computers and a lot of PC vendors. And in terms of Laptop sales Apple is in the top 5. Some well known PC vendors sell a lot less than Apple.
