In Longhorn, file icons are a representation of the first page of the document itself. Files can be grouped in a variety of "virtual folders" according to criteria such as "created by Mary" or "modified in the past week."
I think you're forgetting who copied whom here. I mean obviously Apple was the one who copied Microsoft with their new features. Apple copied MS before MS even announced most of their new features, and Apple's new OS is going to be public this Friday (that's 4 days...), but obviously Apple's great powers of premonition allowed them to copy Microsoft's technology.
Now I just wonder if M$ will take my recommendation to change the color of their blue screens to red...you know, for artistic effect...
I can't wait until Longhorn comes out and Apple will start mentioning ideas for their next version of X.
Truth is their nothing really incrediblly new about this stuff being presented...anything that a user can interact with can be accomplished now...this just just a small upgrade. What is new is the underlying technology that m$ is making thats gonna affect every bit of their products...like that avalon thing...but this is programmer-only candy.
A cool thing is this is gonna be supposedly the first operating system written in managed code...if you don't know what that is...imagine source code that is computer independant and compiles, to adapt to the environment, everytime you start the program...like java...except their using my favorite flavor, C#. This will cause a small performance hit but nothing earth shattering ...besides the .net framework, which is like a work in progress that all this managed code rests on, will get upgrades to make it better...c++ is so going to hell :P
Their is also another GREAT! thing about longhorn...if you thought you needed a fast computer to run it you were right...This is good for people trying to buy a new computer...For example Costco's is selling $3000-ish computers that are just 3.6 ghz with a 128 mb vid card...with this new os coming out...they may actually order some new systems to replace these dinosuars...well old if you play videogames...128 mb vid cards can barely get a game off the ground now a days...and only with low detail settings...zzz They been selling computers like this for years...same speed..same price...zzz

I am interested in this new hybrid hard drive as we manage a data recovery company and I wonder how may new issues this type of drive will create for users of the new HDD combining Flash and platters or Flash and HD as some know it.
Anyone have any ideas what types of things will go wrong with peoples data on a system like this?
I thought Tiger was supposed to be remarkable. I found this "feature" funny.

Am i the only one who sees that the market share of apple is really small? I'm sure OSX is great and apple does make some good products (i'd die w/out my iPod), but ~2% vs. ~95% (microsoft) doesn't make a bold statement. MAC is a niche. OSX is a backburner that is going nowhere but down. Apple reaps most of its revenue from iPods. Apple is like a maserati, sure its damn cool car and i wouldn't mind having one, but parts are impossible to find and most people can't afford one. Microsoft is like Ford: sure it certainly has its problems, but most people drive one. Not to mention they now own Aston Martin (MS does come out with some cool stuff sometimes - its not all that bad).
lastly, to the apple jihadists out there: its people like you who force me to boycott apple on general principle. (even if the nazis won the war, i still wouldn't join up)
Perhaps a bit expensive, but not necessarily considering all you get for your money. Parts readily available, even Ford and Chevy oparts will work. PLenty of places to go, but some should be left to trucks, and dirty trucks at that. And the % is more like 4 than 2, and there are more than one PC manufcturer who is happy with a smaller share.
Anyhow, We're glad that you are boycotting Apple and the Mac. The MS world needs your perspective .
To be honest at your boycott, you should trash your iPod, and of course, you would never use iTunes or QuickTime on your PC. Nor would you use any Adobe product, or Macromedia products, or MS Office, because they are all basically Mac designs. And of course, if there wasn't a Mac, you wouldn't have Windows Whatever either.
You know (or not), Mac may be hard to boycott after all
Sticking with an outdated, ugly, insecure, difficult-to-use system because of what someone thinks about a much more enjoyable alternative sure makes sense to me.
I have to agree that the mindset is the problem at hand. Sure, I'm more than capable to purchase a Mac for $3000....great. For the past 5-10 years, graphic artists and digital effects people had to go that route, but that day is long gone my friends. With 64bit and Dual Core chips rolling out, pulling upwards to 4 gigs plus of memory, and with everything being written for a pc platform, you can argue all you want, but price vs performance, PC's are killing Macs. Mac has extremely limited software, and that's great if you're software begins with an I and followed by the word of its association, but how about a competitor? To add to it, sure, Adobe clung to Mac heads for quite some time, but those days are behind us fella as I can pimp Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Maya, 3d Studio Max and truley many more applications just as fast (if not faster) on my PC. I know, you're thinking, the ingenuity, creativeness and look how cute those iMacs are...blah blah blah. I can spend another $2000 on cosmetic beauty, but isn't that a waste of money when all I'm looking for is performance?!? The one thing I think Mac users are missing is that it doesn't require a ton of money to use intensive programs (which are readily available on the net for sharing), they just like spending their money on a "Cute" machine, which explains why 1.5 of the 2% of Mac users are either female or gay males. As for the i-pod.......it's called a walkman. The market cometh, and the market leaveth behind. In time, all things run their course.
We will have to get to the day where we can realize, that yes, in fact Steve Jobs was responsible for creating the world. He was solely responsible for the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, Quasars and all other objects in the galaxy; these accolades are great when compared to when he created email, the GUI ((or was that the xerox team??)), HD's (wait, once again, was that somebody else?) the floppy (nope, IBM), the crt/lcd (anyone japanese?), sound, light, electrons, neurons, transistors, circuit boards, interfaces, copper resisters, silicon and finally, the iPod (I believe he did create that last one). All hail the oh mighty!
Man, dude! Take a pill or find a girlfriend. Equating Apple with Nazis & Jihad terrorist from a person with a last name of Swartz? Wow! you have some serious "dictator complex" issues that have nothing to do with Apple or Microsoft. Turn off the XBox & get a life.
First, why are adding such emotion to a debate about computing platforms? Jihadists? Settle down.
Second, Apple is not after some niche market. True, they have less market share than MS, but every man, woman and child is still their potential customer. Besides this talk about market share is really old. I could talk now about BMW's small market share, but what's the point? Apple can simultaneously have small market share and make the best OS on the planet for home PC users. (They do.)
I the issue with people like you is you don't want to be associated with a perceived "loser" like Apple with a mere 3% market share. Kind of like all the people in California wearing Red Sox caps.
As a consumer, I don't care if I am the last person on the planet using a Mac, they still rock. If you want to use Windows, more power to you. (Well, less power in terms of what you can easily do with a computer, but you know what I mean...)
After almost 20 yrs of MS systems I just bought the Powerbook G4, 17.Inch widescreen, Fully Loaded and it is a really awesome computer without all of the major problems that MS has and I really dig this machine except for most of the Mac Users which do act like a bunch of bugged out snobs. It's really stupid and I don't even know why they are like that? Like i posted something in the wrong area and some snot wrote back like I killed his mother or something. I was like what the hell is your problem. I hate it when phone-gangsters can talk crap miles away behind their keyboard. In person they would see me and know they made their biggest mistake. Microsoft user are for sure a much better group of people. I'm not your typical computer user. But getting back to the issue of the new release of Longhorn. It's just gonna-be another BS update with another thousand problems. They always do thing half *ss. Apple works on that one thing until it's right and only then do they send it out. I'm really blown away by this awesome system. It's one inch thick, closed. Apple is very expensive but you can get parts from other vendors that are much cheaper and even MS compatible.
Its like saying everyone in the Republican Party are elitists ultraconservatives. The problem is that the jihadist, Mac zealots out there make the most noise and as such draw the most attention. Got to macrumors.com and spend some time browsing the forums. There is a lot of kool-aid drinkers on the site but also far more very reasonable people who can and do slap Apple around for being stupid, or making stupid mistakes.
As a Software developer I had a section of Mac users screaming for a port. So I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a G4 Powerbook for my development machine since I needed to replace my (windows) notebook anyhow. I was suprised at how easy it was to use and robust the OS is. And if I get confused I can always goto *nix shell :)
But I agree Mac users are a culture and boy did I get slammed for trying to use M$ GUI layout instead of the "official" mac interface. I found out that mac has a very strict software design document. But sheesh give me a break lol They can be nasty bunch. Too bad the hardware has a better attitude then the (most of) users.
I was really kind of disappointed with the image used to show transparency in the article. I really coulndn't see much going on.
But to the point, I'm thinking with Longhorn it will be like the Mac where every window has a transparency associated with it system wide. The good part is that it allows everyone to do some cool stuff with little effort, the (potentially) bad part is that if not done well, it can really eat system resources and bog down the computer (just ask early OS X users).
There is an actual operating system that not only outperforms any wishful thinking about Longhorn, that actually exists now ... right now.
While everyone wants to google and awe at the Microsoft light show, so be it. But beware, Longhorn has got to be the most marketed, ever-changing, no end in site marketing campaign in history! They don't even have the dignity to have a working copy of their latest mockups.
Longhorn is an illusion. You will find some water there, but nothing even close to resembling the grandiose beliefs that Microsoft is marketing now.
I've always thought the whole "who copied whom" argument to be kind of moot. If something works, you can expect all the operating systems to draw on it and make something similarly functioned. Between Linux, OSX, and Windows, I'd wager you'd be hard pressed to find an innovation that didn't belong to one of the others at some point in time.
I would refrain from calling anything truly "copied" when it comes to OS programming. In my mind, it would be copied if Microsoft somehow opened up the source code of the thing they wanted to copy, then copied and pasted it right into their own. I think it's far more likely that the programmers saw something that would be useful, became inspired, and programmed it from the ground up.
A lot of car models use similar engines (that is to say, internal combustion) and you never hear car zealots complain about similar workings under the hood. I think the issue needs to be put to rest.
History lesson: Palo Alto Research Center PARC / a R&D arm of Xerox had a very crude point & click / mouse GUI. NOBODY wanted it & saw no value in it for further development (Xerox/IBM/HP) Steve Jobs & Steve Wozniac reviewed the demostration from PARC & BINGO! The future of personal computing was revealed to them with their then Apple II computer. Apple BOUGHT the crude beta software from Xerox with Apple stock. Apple then combined this with Apple Code & major refinements with GUI/ Moused development / keyboard commands to create the Macintosh Computer & Apple GUI in 1984. Microsoft was still in command line coding DOS language. That's why the first version of Word & Excel were on a Mac. DOS had no GUI. By having Microsoft as an Apple developer, the GUI coding was revealed & at that time a computer's GUI had never been copyrighted or was seen by the government as a "copyright" intellectual property...just the CODE behind the look & feel of the GUI. (i.e. the "steering wheel metaphor") 3 years later a "similar" sampled GUI from Microsoft called Windows appeared. Legal battles insued for many years between Apple & Microsoft, but Gates / Father - Attorney, knew that at that time, it would be very difficult to copyright the "look & feel" of a GUI as long as they called it something different...WINDOWS, a common computer GUI term. Microsoft eventually settled with Apple num, erous years ago with a 150 million dollar "investment" into Apple, which also looked good the the DOJ anti-monopoly trial judge at that time.
Funny thing is that today when Lindows/Linux tried this with the same argument as Citizen Gates used, BOOM! LAWSUIT! "too similar in look & feel, plus name will confuse people into thinking this is a Microsoft product..."
Anyway, history, old news today... That's why people tend to say that Longhorn will look (again) like Mac OSX GUI "Tiger". Which today IS copyrighted by law...
I rarely have problems with Windows XP, and I am a power user. I would expect Longhorn to continue the MS tradition of building an operating system that supports an almost unlimited number of applications and games.
I have used Macs on previous jobs - and have been impressed with the elegance of the systems. But, I have also seen people suffer through a lot of the same problems that Windows users do. It just appears to me that many MAC users are less demanding of their systems and/or better educated at correcting the problems.
One more questions / issue with Macs: Why don't Macs come standard with a two button mouse (with right button functionality) and a scroll wheel? This is the biggest turn-off for me in using a MAC - even for just checking email, word processing, and using the internet.
Seriiously. If one of your big selling points is that you have the easiest-to-learn/use computer, it helps to have the easiest to use mouse. Believe it or not actual research and user testing went into these choices. I know a few PC users who have no idea what that second button is for and have no use for it.
Try watching a young child or someone without great dexterity (arthritus etc.) try to use a two-button mouse vs. a one button (push button with one or two fingers instead of a gentle squeeze or downward push with the entire hand). You'll see why.
On the other end of the spectrum, most "power mouse button" users I know pitch (read put in junk drawer) the cheap mouse they get with the computer and buy a better one -the same mouse that would work on a Mac too.
So -simplicity is the answer. Its the mouse more people can use.
Did you spend a lot of time setting up your System or has it worked well out of the box? I have a feeling it took a while to get that way, but if not I'm happy for you.
I don't think that Mac users are less demanding than Windows users, but I do think it is a lot easier to find the solutions on a Mac than on Windows. The support web site is much more accurate and there are usually less steps to take it correct a problem. This is a product of having such a tight knit system.
As far as the mouse problem take your mouse with you when you go to work on a Mac. Don't worry about drivers it will work. Using the ctrl key isn't that bad once you get used to it, and page up & down (use the option or command key with an up or down arrow) is more efficient than a scroll wheel.
No one will dispute Apple's market share. However does it matter? They make a great product and are profitable. As someone who has the freedom to chose, I use a Mac as my primary machine. I don't have any issues with viruses, spyware, reinstalling or my machine slowing down over a period of time.
I'm sure there's competition, however what jihad are you talking about? ROTFL!
PS. I also own a Dell, because I can, but it hardly ever gets used.
WOW - If Macs are so great how come so FEW people use them? Unless the 4% of you that use them think you really are better/smarter than the rest of us...
Come on, if you insist on paying that much for a computer (with the specs of PC 2/3 its price) at least insist on getting a mouse with TWO buttons!!! =))
Gwen Stefai, Clara featuring Ludacris, Mariah Carey, and 50 Cent are the top selling artist right now on the Billboard "Hot 100" list. Does that mean that they produce the best music avalible because they are the most popular. Not a very strong argument.
Yes the fastest computers are not Apples and yes Apples cost more than Dell, Gateway, emachine, and compaq, but did you ever stop to think that people might have a reason for being so passinate about a product? The specs on a website won't tell you much. Check out Bearfeats.com and see how Macs rate vs Windows machines. The systems that are betting Macs often cost more, Not always. Apple also has a much better repair history, according to Consumer Reports, than any other mainstream computer manufacuter.
There is more than just the speed of a proccesor than you should consider when looking at computers. There is the productivity time VS learning curve/ problem solveing. You could have the fastes computer in the world but it wouldn't do you any good if you couldn't use it.
Wow, I just have to say almost everyone who has posted here has to find a life and stop acting like a bunch of little children. Sterotyping out the wazoo here. From both the Mac and Windows end. Sheesh. Seriously folks.
Anyway--- I've been using PC's all my life. Well, for the past 9 -10 years. Bought a PowerBook last December for video editing, and within a week it became my primary computer. Call Mac users snobs, call Mac users a bunch of gay little weirdos, but after years of using Windows computers (and of course, I still do at school and with certain applications), I have to say that this PowerBook and its accompanying Mac OS X operating system have given me the best computing experience I've ever had, hands down. I mean, every time I open my PowerBook I know that (more than likely, at least) it will be a carefree experience with the best professional-level applications in an amazingly intuitive operating system. Despite how some Mac users portray themselves on this message board (and hey, Windows users aren't doing much better....) is it "gay" and "snobbish" to be able to wholeheartedly trust in a computer that (and all of you, admit it) your day-to-day life relies on?
So yeah, everyone grow up here, and if you don't want to squander your money on another budget PC, get yourself a Mac and surprise yourself with actually enjoying technology for once.
Ok... "Mac users are a bunch of gay little weirdos"
Ryan B., I know you were kidding when you said that, but really. My company's only client that uses a Mac really is a gay little weirdo.
Sexual preference aside, my company does software application and web development. We have a Mac to test web sites on just to make everything looks ok across platforms, and let me tell you, trying to actually do anything other than surf the web with it is the biggest waste of time in our whole department. You really can't do anything more complicated than surf the web (like set up a print driver, which takes ~30 seconds on all of our Windows systems, about a minute and a half on Linux).
I too is a Mac convert and I am buying another 17" Mac, this time for myself. The first one was highjacked by my daughter and would not part with it with my windows laptap. Ive been using windows since it came out and I am an applications power user.
Its like this.... test drive a Lexus, or just go to a car show and sit and savor on one.I bet you'll never want to go back to your Ford. Thats how it feels like when you are with a Mac, a quality machine/applications that you just can't part with. No compromises... just pure HARD WORK built into it.
Just try it.... and when you do open your mind, anyone could find faults, like leather is uncomfortable ..... :-)
Switched to a Mac a couple months ago. With Tiger coming out, doubt if I'll ever look back. Really have been pleasantly surprised - now I understand the hype. I didn't know what I was missing out on - no virus protection software, no spyware!!!!
Seriously folks. At this point neither Windows nor OS X sucks in any way, shape or form. They are both good OSes. Do they have issues? Yes. Do they need improvement? Yes. Do they lack features the other has? Yes. But LOTS of people are highly productive doing all kinds of crazy tasks in BOTH OSes. I use XP at work on a P4 Dell and OS X on a 14" iBook at home, and I like them both. I prefer the look and feel of OS X, but XPs works too. One thing people complaining about the latest OS X upgrade are forgetting - the search function. If you've ever used the on-the-fly search in iTunes on a Mac, you understand how truly awesome it is. So the latest upgrade isn't all fluffy GUI stuff.
If Cnet wants to post pictures and screen shots how about making the f'ing things big enough that one can actually see what the are looking it. I mean geeze what are they stupid or something?
there is a place for both osx and xp depending on what you primarily use the compuer for. They each have thier strengths and weaknesses and the smart money is on having both if you an afford it
What amazes me is Microsoft's ability to use features that they are going to have two years down the road as selling points.
For instance...
"Mac OSX may have smart folders, but Longhorn's smart folders are going to be better!"
Let me get this straight...Another system beat you to this kickass feature...and you're saying that your copycat feature is going to have things it doesn't have -right now-...but in two years...assuming they don't add it during that time...
Behind. and they always try to make standards that only work with there Software like this .net, Media Player Quick time & iTunes is clearly easier in importing in standard formats that other programs able to read. trading media like music, home movies and Photographs between Apps to create a story or a presentation the all G4s and newer Macs can do this out of the box. i now have friends the fix Microsoft Networks with their iBook running Mac OS 10 its funny and also nice to see Apple as a tool to fix Windows and other types of sever apps. I really think longhorn will prove that Mac os 10 is more empowering.
The desktop wars are over, both sides have said so. We should just go on, but it is obvious that some of us can't let go. If one side copies, then so be it, in the end justice will rule.
"Every revolution carries within it the seeds of it's own destruction. Every empire that rises will one day fall."
That was a line of Frank Herbert's Children of Dune, specifically the miniseries. I personally use a mac, i love it, and i am okay with not having some things. Oh well, i have all my important thins, like Microsoft Office, quicktime, and iTunes.
So be happy with your decision, and do not hapr on the decisions of others, we are all individuals, we are all humans.
I think it's too early to get longhorn running on our computers, we did not yet get the ‎maximum usage of XP editions and longhorn just released!; and then what is the next? ‎Please think about production and real improvement it needs not les than 3 years to ‎develop a new windows editions, I think its not a right time to have a longhorn.‎

Apple is very expensive but you can get parts from
other vendors that are much cheaper and even MS
compatible.

But I agree Mac users are a culture and boy did I get slammed for trying to use M$ GUI layout instead of the "official" mac interface. I found out that mac has a very strict software design document. But sheesh give me a break lol They can be nasty bunch. Too bad the hardware has a better attitude then the (most of) users.
for example
you need a pretty fast display card and processor, but it works, i remember having tested it under w2k
also if you look at it, with outlook 2003 and IM installed, you get a sort of transparent warning for received email messages.
transparency in the article. I really coulndn't see much going on.
But to the point, I'm thinking with Longhorn it will be like the
Mac where every window has a transparency associated with it
system wide. The good part is that it allows everyone to do some
cool stuff with little effort, the (potentially) bad part is that if not
done well, it can really eat system resources and bog down the
computer (just ask early OS X users).
any wishful thinking about Longhorn, that actually exists now ...
right now.
While everyone wants to google and awe at the Microsoft light
show, so be it. But beware, Longhorn has got to be the most
marketed, ever-changing, no end in site marketing campaign in
history! They don't even have the dignity to have a working
copy of their latest mockups.
Longhorn is an illusion. You will find some water there, but
nothing even close to resembling the grandiose beliefs that
Microsoft is marketing now.
Go ahead ... wait and see.
Steve Jobs & Steve Wozniac reviewed the demostration from PARC & BINGO!
Seriiously. If one of your big selling points is that you have the
easiest-to-learn/use computer, it helps to have the easiest to
use mouse. Believe it or not actual research and user testing
went into these choices. I know a few PC users who have no idea
what that second button is for and have no use for it.
Try watching a young child or someone without great dexterity
(arthritus etc.) try to use a two-button mouse vs. a one button
(push button with one or two fingers instead of a gentle squeeze
or downward push with the entire hand). You'll see why.
On the other end of the spectrum, most "power mouse button"
users I know pitch (read put in junk drawer) the cheap mouse
they get with the computer and buy a better one -the same
mouse that would work on a Mac too.
So -simplicity is the answer. Its the mouse more people can use.
worked well out of the box? I have a feeling it took a while to get
that way, but if not I'm happy for you.
I don't think that Mac users are less demanding than Windows
users, but I do think it is a lot easier to find the solutions on a
Mac than on Windows. The support web site is much more
accurate and there are usually less steps to take it correct a
problem. This is a product of having such a tight knit system.
As far as the mouse problem take your mouse with you when
you go to work on a Mac. Don't worry about drivers it will work.
Using the ctrl key isn't that bad once you get used to it, and
page up & down (use the option or command key with an up or
down arrow) is more efficient than a scroll wheel.
matter? They make a great product and are profitable. As
someone who has the freedom to chose, I use a Mac as my
primary machine. I don't have any issues with viruses, spyware,
reinstalling or my machine slowing down over a period of time.
I'm sure there's competition, however what jihad are you talking
about? ROTFL!
PS. I also own a Dell, because I can, but it hardly ever gets used.
Come on, if you insist on paying that much for a computer (with the specs of PC 2/3 its price) at least insist on getting a mouse with TWO buttons!!! =))
macs still have a 4% market share.
Take a read of this, I think it summs up the current situation
perfectly.

are the top selling artist right now on the Billboard "Hot 100"
list. Does that mean that they produce the best music avalible
because they are the most popular. Not a very strong argument.
Yes the fastest computers are not Apples and yes Apples cost
more than Dell, Gateway, emachine, and compaq, but did you
ever stop to think that people might have a reason for being so
passinate about a product? The specs on a website won't tell you
much. Check out Bearfeats.com and see how Macs rate vs
Windows machines. The systems that are betting Macs often
cost more, Not always. Apple also has a much better repair
history, according to Consumer Reports, than any other
mainstream computer manufacuter.
There is more than just the speed of a proccesor than you
should consider when looking at computers. There is the
productivity time VS learning curve/ problem solveing. You
could have the fastes computer in the world but it wouldn't do
you any good if you couldn't use it.
?????
has to find a life and stop acting like a bunch of little children.
Sterotyping out the wazoo here. From both the Mac and
Windows end. Sheesh. Seriously folks.
Anyway--- I've been using PC's all my life. Well, for the past 9
-10 years. Bought a PowerBook last December for video editing,
and within a week it became my primary computer. Call Mac
users snobs, call Mac users a bunch of gay little weirdos, but
after years of using Windows computers (and of course, I still do
at school and with certain applications), I have to say that this
PowerBook and its accompanying Mac OS X operating system
have given me the best computing experience I've ever had,
hands down. I mean, every time I open my PowerBook I know
that (more than likely, at least) it will be a carefree experience
with the best professional-level applications in an amazingly
intuitive operating system. Despite how some Mac users portray
themselves on this message board (and hey, Windows users
aren't doing much better....) is it "gay" and "snobbish" to be able
to wholeheartedly trust in a computer that (and all of you, admit
it) your day-to-day life relies on?
So yeah, everyone grow up here, and if you don't want to
squander your money on another budget PC, get yourself a Mac
and surprise yourself with actually enjoying technology for once.
teehee
Sexual preference aside, my company does software application and web development. We have a Mac to test web sites on just to make everything looks ok across platforms, and let me tell you, trying to actually do anything other than surf the web with it is the biggest waste of time in our whole department. You really can't do anything more complicated than surf the web (like set up a print driver, which takes ~30 seconds on all of our Windows systems, about a minute and a half on Linux).
doubt if I'll ever look back. Really have been pleasantly
surprised - now I understand the hype. I didn't know what I was
missing out on - no virus protection software, no spyware!!!!
Robert
primarily use the compuer for. They each have thier strengths
and weaknesses and the smart money is on having both if you
an afford it
For instance...
Gimme a break.
with there Software like this .net, Media Player Quick time &
iTunes is clearly easier in importing in standard formats that
other programs able to read. trading media like music, home
movies and Photographs between Apps to create a story or a
presentation the all G4s and newer Macs can do this out of the
box. i now have friends the fix Microsoft Networks with their
iBook running Mac OS 10 its funny and also nice to see Apple as
a tool to fix Windows and other types of sever apps. I really think
longhorn will prove that Mac os 10 is more empowering.
just go on, but it is obvious that some of us can't let go. If one
side copies, then so be it, in the end justice will rule.
"Every revolution carries within it the seeds of it's own
destruction. Every empire that rises will one day fall."
That was a line of Frank Herbert's Children of Dune, specifically
the miniseries. I personally use a mac, i love it, and i am okay
with not having some things. Oh well, i have all my important
thins, like Microsoft Office, quicktime, and iTunes.
So be happy with your decision, and do not hapr on the
decisions of others, we are all individuals, we are all humans.
