Penguin UK turns to e-books

Publishing company Penguin UK said it will be offering in e-book form works by authors such as Jane Austen and Matthew Kneale. The e-books will be branded with the new name, ePenguin, and will be instantly downloadable from the Penguin UK Web site onto desktops, laptops and in the future, handheld computers.

More than 200 titles will be available starting in September; they will be published for Microsoft Reader and Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader. Penguin added that digital service provider Lightning Source will provide the digital format and ensure secure delivery of the e-books.
