Penguin Computing has garnered $9 million in a second round of venture funding, the San Francisco-based company plans to announce Thursday. vSpring Capital led the round, and existing investors San Francisco Equity Partners, Weber Capital and Convergence Partners also participated.
The software will be used to develop Penguin's Scyld ClusterWare software, which is designed to manage groups of Linux machines linked into a computing cluster. Ed Ekstrom from vSpring Capital has joined Penguin's board.
