A new partnership between Lexmark and Polaroid will work to develop and market new high-definition color image printers, the companies said today.

Lexmark (LXK), a manufacturer of laser and ink jet color printers, noted the growing demand for the combination of digital imaging and high-quality, color ink jet printing. The agreement will result in affordable photo-realistic printing capabilities to the office and home markets.

Polaroid (PRD) and Lexmark said that they will jointly focus on color science, product technology, and marketing of jointly developed products. According to a spokesperson, some new products will be cobranded, while others will receive their respective company names.
