Panasonic touts mini flash cards

Electronics giant Matsushita Electric Industrial announced Tuesday that miniature versions of its Secure Digital memory card will be available in the United States starting in May. Matsushita is better known by its Panasonic brand. The miniSD cards will be sold in three capacities and will include an adapter, so they can be used in devices supporting the larger SD memory card. The 32MB card will cost $34.99. The 64MB will be priced at $44.99, and the 128MB will be $79.99.

The miniSD cards target mobile phones and will be about 40 percent of the size of SD cards. The miniSD cards will measure 21.5mm by 20mm by 1.4mm. The cards include copyright protection technology.
