Palm sets up shop by Stanford

Palm, the hardware company formerly known as PalmOne, has opened up a new 800-square-foot retail store in Palo Alto, Calif., at the Stanford Shopping Center. The shop includes an accessories wall full of Treo smart phones and LifeDrive devices, as well as a computer area where sales experts can demonstrate applications and HotSync capabilities.

There are now 15 Palm retail sites around the country, including three other California shopping centers: San Francisco, West Los Angeles and Santa Clara. Palm also opened its first New York store in the John F. Kennedy International Airport on Aug. 24. Palm said more than 31 percent of shoppers who stop at the Palm sites also purchase products from other retail partners advertised in the store.
