RIM was down for about 3 hours so email was not being sync'ed. That did absolutely nothing to the voice side of the BlackBerry device.
So whine all you want but BlackBerry is THE most dependable and secure solution we have had so far...bar none.
No, I don't work at RIM. I do run a BES server with a couple of hundred users and I didn't hear a peep.

You have to take into consideration that no matter what type of wireless device you have there are going to be times when you cannot reach the access point(s) whether that is because the provider is having issues or whether you are deep inside a building and can't get a signal. I see more of the latter than I do the former.

So if you find yourself without email (God Forbid) then use the old way of doing business...Talk to them.

I found the "IT Manager"'s comments in this article to be quite exaggerated. Most sysadmins running Exchange networks would give their left nut for an uptime record where the service is only impaired twice in a single calendar year. But if you are administering to a rickety M$ Exchange box that sees a lot of downtime and has a lot of angry users, a change in target is a nice thing to have once in a while. If the "IT Manager" in this article is among those types of sysadmins, it's no wonder he was so shrill :-)
