Oracle releases Data Hub for products

Oracle has developed an addition to its line of business applications for tracking product information through different systems.

The company on Tuesday released Oracle Product Information Management Data Hub, software designed to centralize product information and store it in a format that can be read by several applications. A company could, for example, create a single instance of product information that is accessed by both its warehouse and order-entry applications. Oracle is shipping templates of product information for different scenarios and will sell a $9,995 tool, called the PIM Data Librarian, that will let people modify the document formats, said John Webb, vice president Oracle's application strategy. The Product Information Management Data Hub product is the second Data Hub product from Oracle, which intends to create more versions for different needs, said Webb. The Data Hub software is bundled with Oracle's Fusion Middleware, the back-end infrastructure software that runs with its eBusiness line of packaged applications.
