Opsware generates data center stats

Opsware this week said it will soon deliver an application for tracking how data center resources are used. The company said its Data Center Intelligence software will provide the analytical information that's needed give information technology managers better insight into their data centers' operations costs.

The application tracks how much staff time is dedicated to performing tasks such as upgrading servers. The software also creates a consolidated view of servers and instances of licensed software in a data center. To help pinpoint problems, it provides a record of which software products have received the latest patches. Opsware, formerly called Loudcloud, said the analytical application will be available in September with its Opsware System 4.0 data center automation software.
