Opsware accruing Creekpath storage tech

Opsware, a company that sells software to automate management of computing technology, said Tuesday that it's acquiring Creekpath Systems storage software for about $10 million in cash. Opsware will use the storage management software as the foundation of its application storage automation technology, the company said.

An additional payout of $5 million is possible depending on circumstances Opsware didn't disclose. Creekpath is based in Boulder, Colo., but the office will be closed and its employees relocated to Opsware's offices in Redmond, Wash. Opsware plans to discontinue Creekpath's Acuity product, and therefore expects no revenue from the acquisition in fiscal 2007.
