Opera 9 takes the stage

June 20, 2006
Opera Software has released a security update, 9.02, of its open-source browser. The new version is designed to address vulnerabilities in its earlier Opera 9 releases that could allow an abnormally large link to create a buffer overflow and crash a user's system.

An attacker, as a result, could gain control of a user's computer and execute arbitrary code, according to a security advisory by VeriSign's iDefense Labs.

Umm.. some awesome research going on here. First things first... The Opera Web Browser is not and Open Source application. Yes, it is free, but free does not mean open source.

Opera 9.02 was released on Sept. 21st 2006. Almost an entire month ago. Here are a few links for ya on that one...

who is this guy: Dawn Kawamoto ?

I don't understand why he says that Opera is open source *and* reports 9.02 after a month of its release date.
