Open-source ERP company gets new top exec

Compiere, a small company that develops open-source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to help customers manage finance, inventory and other business matters, has named LaVonne Reimer its chief executive officer. Compiere founder and former leader Jorg Janke now will focus on strategy as chief technology officer, the company said Monday.

LaVonne most recently established the Open Technology Business Center in Beaverton, Ore., not far from Compiere's Portland headquarters. Compiere has only a handful of employees, but relies on numerous business partners that sell the software and tailor it for particular customers' needs. Compiere aids in support and shares revenue with those partners, Janke said in an interview at the Open Source Business Conference earlier this month.

Open source =Open source and Compiere = $$$$
I have some very serious thoughts about considering the Compiere project as an open source project. Compiere is the very definition of deception and enticement. Anyone who has looked into compiere seriously (paid significant $$$$ to compiere + studied the code extensively) and in its entity will realize that it is NOT an open source project because of the simple fact that key parts of the source code are NOT included in any downloads from compiere or elsewhere (i.e sourceforge). They are not included due to the fact that whatever is done on the code it has to be done by Compiere and/or its "Partners" ($$$$$) and for the same exact reason there is no documentation to be found anywhere. Let alone the fact that the software itself, in terms of functionality, has nothing to do with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Please do not refer to compiere as an open source project due to the fact that in doing so you take a lot of things away from people that throughout the years have made a significant effort to support the concept of open source.
