Nvidia adds CIO to its team

Graphics-chip maker Nvidia has added two executives to its team, including its first-ever chief information officer.

George Stelling becomes Nvidia's CIO and will be responsible for the company's Information Systems and Information Technology organizations around the world.

Stelling has spent the last 18 years involved with information technology and re-engineering. Before coming to Nvidia, he was vice president of strategy and corporate development for ON Semiconductor, where he also served as vice president of sales and marketing operations. Stelling has also held senior positions with The Franklin Mint and Price Waterhouse.

The company has been rearranging its executive team of late. Last month Nvidia named 3D graphics luminary Neil Trevett as its new vice president of content development.

Stelling is expected to be busy with keeping more than 2,100 of Nvidia's people and various contractors working productively. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company is known for its graphics processors and motherboards for PCs and a variety of other platforms, including PDAs, mobile phones and video game consoles.

Nvidia's other high-profile hire Thursday was Scott Sullivan, who will now serve as the company's vice president of human resources.
