- The whole purpose of this $100 laptop is just that - provide kids in 3rd world countries a chance to experience what the world has to offer, and affordably.

- Though why the Gates Foundation wouldn't/couldn't subsidize the price down for developing country is a mystery. Oh ... the thing runs Linux. OK; maybe not such a mystery after all.

(3 Comments)If you jack the price up nearly two-fold...how is the technology going to reach the hands of these needy kids? Or instead of the laptop going to the hands of 100 kids, it'll only reach ~50. Then it's going to introduce all kinds of new problems - the "haves" and the "have-nots" - within a country that's impoverished as it is.
