Nokia touts "always-on" PC Card

Nokia on Wednesday introduced a device that it said will give notebook users a variety of options for connecting to the Web wirelessly. The D211, a PC Card due to ship in the second quarter, will allow customers to use just one device for mobile data services and e-mail, Nokia said, but with multiple options for connecting to the Internet and a company's intranet. For example, it provides data access through GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data) networks and will work over certain wireless LAN (local area network) environments.

"It extends personal mobility further with remote access to corporate services," said Nigel Rundstrom, Nokia vice president for strategic marketing in the Asia-Pacific region, in a statement.
