Nokia continues China push

Nokia announced on Friday its first CDMA phone for China. The company signed a deal with China Unicom to introduce the new phones. They will be sold through China Putian, an exclusive distributor for China, and are expected to be available in early September. CDMA, which stands for code division multiple access, is the main wireless standard in the United States.

Nokia leads the world's mobile phone market but has been battling with competitor Motorola for the Chinese market. It is Nokia's second phone launch in China this week. On Wednesday, the company launched a lightweight GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) phone in China, which is one of the fastest growing mobile phone markets in the world.
