Nintendo offers GameCube deals

Video game giant Nintendo announced several new promotions Thursday for its GameCube console. Starting Sunday, customers who buy a GameCube will also get a free game, with choices including hits such as "Metroid Prime" and "Mario Party 4." Nintendo also is dropping the price on a number of older self-published GameCube titles, including "Luigi's Mansion," "Pikmin" and "Super Smash Bros. Melee." The games will now sell for $30, down from $50.

Finally, Nintendo is cutting the price of one its most popular bundle packs, combining a GameCube, memory card and a copy of the game "Super Mario Sunshine." The package will now sell for $160, down from $190. Nintendo is in a tight race with Microsoft's Xbox for second place in the video game market, dominated by Sony's PlayStation 2.
