Nintendo nabs counterfeit games

Japanese video game giant Nintendo announced Tuesday that it had seized more than 300,000 copies of unlicensed software for its Game Boy Advance player during antipiracy raids last month in China. The company said in a statement that it seized more than a million counterfeit products last year.

"Nintendo has never been more aggressive in protecting our unique global brand and our key intellectual properties, and China can expect the largest share of our attention again in 2003," Jodi Daugherty, director of antipiracy programs for Nintendo of America, said in the statement. Nintendo joined with video game rivals Microsoft and Sony last year to temporarily shut down Hong Kong retailer Lik Sang for selling products that allegedly contributed to piracy.
